To be able to combine my love of writing and reading (and, yes, researching) into a business where I get to help others preserve their life stories is a dream come true and I am honored each time someone entrusts me with this task.
There are a few different options available whether we work together in person or remotely. With all of this technology we have at our fingertips we might as use it.

Below you'll find the three main options I offer. The first two involve you and me working closely together to create a family keepsake that will be treasured for generations. The third option helps you get started on your own if you're interested in exploring more about how to actually write a Personal history or memoir. It's been my experience that without having a timeline or completion date that someone holds you accountable to, most of these independent attempts don't get far and rarely get completed. But, it's fun to test the waters so please don't be afraid to give it a try.

Get It Down
The first step is to actually get your story (or your father's, grandmother's, etc story) down on paper. Many people will say "I don't know how to write" but this is more about remembering than writing. If you can talk and reminisce, you can absolutely get your story preserved.

There are a number of ways to accomplish this: have you write it out, record it, or have me interview you. I recommend the interview method but can work with whatever is most convenient and comfortable for you.

I will then transcribe/edit it for your review. Once you're happy with it, I will put it all together into a professional presentation binder for you to keep.

From start to finish, the project generally takes from one to three months. The first interview/meeting is no charge and then a quote will be prepared for you based on what you're looking for.

Preserved with Love
If you are looking for a more professionally-designed product that will become a true family treasure, I can create an actual book of your Personal History complete with Table of Contents and photos (limit of 8). This book can also include a simple Family tree if you wish and you can order as many books as you need. One completed book is included with this package.
This project is much more involved and will generally take six to eight months to complete depending on how quickly the interviewing and transcribing can progress.

Do It Yourself?
You maybe want to write your personal history yourself - or at least, get started. It all begins with the desire and the commitment to work on it regularly. The best is to do a little every day. But where do you even start? There's a lot of memories to sort through.
